Esittely:

80-year-old André, the main character of the play The Father, cannot seem to remember whether he was a dancer or perhaps an engineer. Does his daughter live with him in Paris, and is her husband named Antoine? No, no—she’s in London, where she moved with her boyfriend Pierre!

André is lost in his memories but firmly believes that he is not senile. He is a strong and self-assured man. However, his mind betrays him a little, blurring the line between dreams and reality. Memories slip away more and more often, sometimes disappearing entirely, leaving fear in their place—the fear of losing oneself, one’s identity, of forgetting who you really are.

For the play The Father, Florian Zeller, described by The Guardian as "the brightest young playwright of our time," was awarded France’s prestigious Molière Award for theatre. In 2020, the play was adapted into a film, with Zeller himself as the director. The success of the movie was largely due to Anthony Hopkins’ performance. He won an Academy Award for this role.

The play The Father is a deeply emotional story that keeps the audience on edge from the very beginning and is brought to life on stage by Sergey Makovetsky and Maria Ryshchenkova with remarkable realism. It is a story of love and understanding, emotional pain, and the desire to connect.
